Seven Lakes is unlike any other community in Moore County. While Pinehurst is defined by golf and Southern Pines by commerce, Seven Lakes was built around something rarer in the North Carolina Piedmont: a network of private lakes in the Sandhills. The community encompasses seven named lakes — Lake Auman, Lake Sequoia, Lake Echo, Lake Foxfire, Lake Juniper, and others — spread across the West End township in western Moore County, approximately 20 miles west of Pinehurst along NC-22 and the Seven Lakes Drive corridor.
Seven Lakes is an unincorporated community with no municipal government, managed instead through private property owner associations. The two primary residential sections — Seven Lakes West (the older, larger section) and Seven Lakes North (the newer, more exclusively gated section) — each have their own HOA or POA structure, their own gate access systems, and their own community amenities.
The community was developed primarily from the late 1960s through the 1990s. The original vision was a recreational lake community within reach of the Triangle and Charlotte — a place for second homes, weekend retreats, and eventually retirement. That vision succeeded: Seven Lakes grew steadily through the 1970s and 1980s as families from Raleigh, Fayetteville, and the Piedmont built lake houses and established roots. Many of those families are now in their second and third generations of ownership, and many of the original owners — now in their 70s and 80s — are transitioning out of large lakefront properties into smaller homes or care facilities.
This generational transition is what drives the Seven Lakes junk removal and estate cleanout market. Seven Lakes is now in the middle of its first major wave of estate activity — properties that have been owned by the same family for 30–50 years, filled with 30–50 years of recreational and household accumulation, being cleared and transferred for the first time. We are on the front end of this wave, and we serve Seven Lakes estate cleanouts regularly.
Seven Lakes estate cleanouts differ from Pinehurst or Southern Pines estate cleanouts in several important ways:
Most Seven Lakes properties have accumulated decades of lake recreational equipment that doesn't exist in golf community homes. Kayaks and canoes (some dating to the 1970s, well past usability), aluminum fishing boats on deteriorated trailers, dock equipment and hardware, water skis, life preservers from multiple eras, fishing gear from three generations, outdoor grills and smokers, and the full inventory of a lake life lived actively across decades. This equipment is bulkier, heavier, and more varied than typical household contents.
Seven Lakes homeowners tend to be more hands-on with their properties than Pinehurst retirees. Lake houses require ongoing maintenance — dock repairs, boat motor work, deck refinishing, landscaping on irregular lakefront lots. The garages and workshops on Seven Lakes properties often contain extensive tool collections, marine equipment, agricultural implements for lot maintenance, and storage that spans the full duration of ownership.
Many Seven Lakes properties have detached storage buildings, boat houses, and utility sheds that have accumulated independently from the main house. These structures can hold as much content as the house itself — sometimes more. A thorough Seven Lakes estate cleanout includes all outbuildings, not just the main residence.
Some Seven Lakes properties that have been in families for 40+ years and are now going through estate transitions have deferred significant maintenance. Windows broken and not repaired. Roof sections that need debris cleared. Gutters full of pine needle accumulation. Exterior structures that are partially collapsed. Our property cleanup service covers this category of work alongside standard junk removal.
The original and larger of the two primary sections, Seven Lakes West encompasses the communities around Lake Auman and several smaller lakes. Managed by the Seven Lakes West POA. Gate access requires advance registration of contractor vehicles. Homes here are predominantly 1970s–1990s ranch and split-level styles on wooded lots, many with lake frontage or lake access. This is where the bulk of first-generation estate activity is occurring.
Seven Lakes North is a separately gated section with its own HOA, generally featuring more recently constructed homes and slightly higher property values. Gate access requires coordination with the Seven Lakes North HOA. We work inside Seven Lakes North regularly — just confirm the gate access details when you call to schedule.
Lake Auman is the largest of the Seven Lakes, and lakefront properties on Lake Auman are the most desirable — and the most complex to clear. Dock infrastructure, waterfront storage, boat lifts, and the full accumulation of a primary lake life. Estate cleanouts on Lake Auman properties often require multiple trailer loads and full-day crews.
Lake Sequoia, Lake Echo, Lake Foxfire, and Lake Juniper are the smaller lakes within the Seven Lakes system. Properties on these lakes have similar accumulation patterns to Lake Auman properties but often with slightly more modest home sizes and fewer outbuildings. Estate transitions here follow the same generational pattern as the rest of Seven Lakes.
Seven Lakes Drive is the primary internal road connecting the community's various sections and amenities — including the Seven Lakes Country Club — to the NC-22 access from West End. Homes along and just off Seven Lakes Drive span the community's full age range and represent a cross-section of the estate cleanout demand we see throughout Seven Lakes.
The broader West End township encompasses rural and semi-rural properties outside the Seven Lakes community proper. We serve these properties as well — farms, larger rural lots, and older homes in the West End community itself along NC-211 and connecting roads. Rural West End properties often have the highest accumulation of outdoor equipment, agricultural implements, and miscellaneous stored material.
Both Seven Lakes West and Seven Lakes North require advance coordination for contractor vehicle access. This is a standard process we handle for every Seven Lakes job:
Seven Lakes gate access requires planning — don't schedule a cleanout without confirming contractor access first. We've been through this process dozens of times and can walk you through it. Just ask when you call.
Full estate cleanouts covering every room, garage, attic, outbuilding, and exterior storage area. We coordinate with Seven Lakes West POA and Seven Lakes North HOA for gate access, sort usable items for donation to the Aberdeen Habitat ReStore, handle lake equipment and marine gear routing, and leave the property broom-clean for a realtor or family walkthrough. Full estate cleanout service →
Hot tubs are common on Seven Lakes properties — many installed in the 1980s and 1990s during the community's prime development era, now aging past usability. We dismantle on-site, remove all components, and sweep the area. Gate access for the removal truck and trailer requires advance coordination with the POA or HOA. Hot tub removal service →
Many Seven Lakes lots have detached storage sheds, old boat houses, and utility structures that have deteriorated past usefulness. We demolish and remove these structures completely, hauling all debris. Lot clearance for outbuildings on lake properties can significantly improve both the property's appearance and its listing appeal. Shed demolition service →
Lake house furniture has a different character than primary home furniture — often more casual, weathered from humidity, and purchased specifically for the lake house decades ago. We clear it all, sort what can be donated, and haul the rest. Furniture removal service →
Lake houses often have older appliances — second refrigerators for entertaining, chest freezers for fish storage, window AC units supplementing the central system. We handle all appliance categories with appropriate routing (refrigerant-certified for fridges and AC units). Appliance disposal service →

Seven Lakes pricing uses the same structure as all Moore County jobs — volume-based, confirmed before work starts, no separate dump fees. The 20-mile distance from Seven Lakes to the Carthage landfill is built into the quoted price.
Yes — Seven Lakes is fully within our Moore County service area. We serve Seven Lakes West, Seven Lakes North, and all surrounding West End township areas. Gate access coordination with the Seven Lakes West POA or Seven Lakes North HOA is required and we handle that process with you when you schedule.
Yes. Remote estate cleanout coordination is standard for us. The main additional step for Seven Lakes is that gate access needs to be arranged in advance — we help you understand what the POA or HOA requires, you complete the registration, and we handle the job with lockbox access and photo documentation throughout.
Working marine equipment and recreational gear in good condition goes to donation channels — the Aberdeen Habitat ReStore accepts some equipment, and Facebook Marketplace or Nextdoor listings for Seven Lakes free items often move things within hours. Non-functional or worn-out equipment goes to the Carthage landfill. Metal components go to scrap recyclers.
Full estate cleanouts for a standard Seven Lakes lake home (2–3 bedrooms) typically run $500–$900. Larger properties with significant outbuildings, lake equipment, and workshop contents may run $900–$1,500 or more. All pricing is confirmed before work starts. Call (910) 420-8159 or text photos for a free estimate.
Yes. Hot tub removal in Seven Lakes requires the same on-site dismantling process as elsewhere — most cannot be moved whole through gate openings. We dismantle, remove all components, and sweep clean. Gate access for the removal crew and trailer must be arranged in advance through your POA or HOA.
